From 22 to 28 September 2025, the International Week of Deaf People (IWDP) is taking place under the global theme: “No Human Rights Without Sign Language Rights”. This annual celebration, organized by the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), raises awareness of Deaf culture, promotes the use of sign languages, and advocates for the recognition of the rights of Deaf individuals worldwide.
Throughout the week, different daily themes highlighted the importance of ensuring the full inclusion of Deaf people in society:
- ✊ “Nothing about us without us” – Deaf communities leading change
- 📚 Multilingual education for deaf learners
- 🆘 Access to information in crises and emergencies
- ⚖️ Legal recognition of sign languages
- 🌐 Accessible services and the right to choose interpretation
- 🚀 Building an inclusive and innovative future
The ANSWER Project proudly joins this global movement, standing in solidarity with the Deaf community. At ANSWER, we strongly believe that sign languages must be recognized, protected, and celebrated, as true equality is not possible without linguistic rights.
We call on institutions, communities, and individuals to keep amplifying this message beyond IWDP 2025—because protecting linguistic rights means protecting human rights.
💙 Together, we can build a more inclusive Europe and a more inclusive world.
